I have a 9 years experience, having translated more than a million words all in all in my career, not counting all the translations I do for fun because I just like it ! I have a degree in biological engineering, completed by my vast general culture and professional experience in leadership positions in various companies, which means I can handle very well any topic from medicine to finance and marketing through video games and social sciences. I'm originally from Belgium but I now live in Côte d'Ivoire, which means I can do translations localized for both European and African audiences.
My mantra is : if it sounds good, then it is good. It is utmost important for me that the audience cannot guess that they are reading a translation : they must feel as if the document was originally written by a native speaker. That is my objective. I'm also very strict regarding to spelling and typography since French has its own specific rules on capitals, brackets, etc.
You won't be disappointed.

I have been working as a professional translator from English and Dutch into French since 2016. And I love it.
After completing an MA in Translation, I started working as a translator at the French Embassy in Brussels. There, I got to specialize further in various fields such as politics, economics, defense, diplomatic matters, etc.
I now work as an in-house translation expert for one of the top insurance companies on the Belgian market with over 1.200.000 customers. As part of the Corporate Office, I now work directly for the governing bodies of the company along with four other fellow translators. On a daily basis, I translate legal documents, financial reports, insurance contracts but I also deliver translations to other departments such as HR, IT, Legal, Risk & Compliance, Accounting or even Infrastructure.
In early 2019, the entrepeneurial has finally woken up. That is why I'm offering my services to the world as a part-time freelance translator!

Freelance translator since January 2004, translating from Dutch/Flemish, English, Spanish to French for Belgium/France, also from German since 2013 and possibly from Italian. Specialisation areas: Legal (had law classes for 9 years within other studies, translated legal texts full-time for 7 years 2004-2011, especially Belgian law, particularly labour law due to my studies in HRM - but also other legal systems of course) ; anything business (Master's degree in "Commercial and Financial Sciences" i.e. business administration/finance): finance, marketing, HRM, management, banking, real estate, insurance. My latest large assignment was the translation of an online Forex trading platform (website, 6,500 words). I normally use SDL Trados Studio 2011. I can also translate back to English, but with a non-native flavour of course. I had a near-mother tongue at some point. I lived in the U.S. for one year in 1978-79, then studied English further at university level for 5 years, then worked for mostly English-speaking multinational companies for 18 years before settling as a freelance translator. So I have the maturity and experience of someone who has been around. I have top Internet research capacities. I am a French mother tongue professional translating into her native language. I have a professional attitude and can work 7/7 if needed. Please note that the time is GMT+2 in Belgium from the last Sunday of March to the last Saturday of October ("summer saving time") and GMT+1 the rest of the year ("winter time").

Full-time freelance translator (and sometimes reviser/proofreader, interpreter) since January 2004 (thus for 12 years in January 2016 at the time of registration).
Before that, I worked as an administrative assistant, marketing assistant, banking & insurance assistant and accounting assistant in mostly English-speaking companies and organisations in and around Brussels, Belgium, for 18 years.
I have been translating mostly legal, financial and marketing texts, but also general technical and scientific texts, including medical texts.
My target languages are French for Belgium and French for France (mother tongues).
My source languages are Dutch/Flemish (Belgian Dutch), English, Spanish and, more recently and more slowly, German.
I have been translating since the age of 12, as I followed a classical Latin & ancient Greek cursus at school.
I have been learning Dutch/Flemish since the age of 11, first at school, then at university (one year of Germanic Philology), then during evening classes, including Business Dutch during my master's degree in commercial sciences in Brussels.
I have been learning English since the age of 11 too, first by myself, then at school, then in the USA, then at university (Germanic Philology, then Master's degree in Translation)
I have been learning Spanish since the age of 18, first in my U.S. high school, then in my Brussels Translation school (ISTI), then I perfected it in a Malaga summer school in Spain.
I learned the basics of German in high school in Belgium (as it is one of the 3 Belgian official languages:
Belgium is a small country between The Netherlands (language: Dutch), Germany and Luxembourg (language: German), the U.K. (language: English) and France (language: French).
I refreshed my knowledge of German more recently and have been translating from German since the end of 2013, but I still have to check most words, so I cannot meet short deadlines nor face extremely long texts. Thus only short texts with long deadlines.
I have a Master's degree in Translation in English, Spanish and French (ISTI, Brussels, 1984),
a Master's degree in Commercial and Financial Sciences (HEC Saint-Louis, Brussels, 1994)
and other diplomas and certificates related to business management, human resources management, translation and terminology software programmes, languages, etc.
I am rigorous and conscientious. One of my ISTI professors once said: "Whenever a translator is not 100% sure, he or she must CHECK in his dictionaries and other terminological sources" !
