I'm an independent freelancer book translator(English to Korean) and former book editor. I translated more than 25 non-fiction books. I specialize in wine and food. I translated The World Atlas of Wine(6th) by Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson, which is very renowned wine reference book, into Korean. Korean native that was raised in the UK and South Korea, I have been bilingual my whole life and started teaching language at the age of 11. Korea Institute of Interpretation and Translation hired me on as a novice translator when I was 16 years old and since then I have worked for different language service providers and clientele.
Growing up, I have always been curious and eager to get to know new things. And my inclination naturally led me into learning English. I have been working as a translator and interpreter for about 10 years. Mostly I worked as a freelancer here in Korea, not belonging to a certain agency. I am currently involved in a voluntary translation work for a non-profitable organization. I love challenges and want to expand the area of my career, working globally.
*FYI, my rate for audiovisual translation is a rate for subtitling and it's according to video hours, not my working hours.

I have been working on translation in a wide range and something helpful for translator life.
I've read lots of classics, midterm & modern arts, subtitles, all related to English literature in my university as an apprentice under my major professor.
Those were ultimately to translate all works in English into Korean and compare existing publications with our works.
With those chances by my professor, as of now, I've been helped in my working.
As a marketer, I have to possess skim and scan skills, correct delivery, and localization as well.
I've been already well-versed in those above, I make decisions quickly and correctly.
Additionally, I love watching movies, so whenever I watch Korean movies, usually I attempt to make English subtitles or vice versa.
But I have never posted those anywhere. It's just for fun.
And affected by my professor, I from time to time compare my subtitles with existing subtitles then figure out my weak points then strengthen those.
I had been working for European / American companies for 30 years mainly for sales, marketing and business operation in industrial B2B businesses, then am now working as a freelance translator and interpreter for various industries and products.
I am interested in a variety of fields and pursue a natural translation and I've certification for 'ITT(International Interpretation & Translation Association of Korea) grade of Business English Translator (Ⅱ)'
I would like to look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank You :)

As an in-house translator, I've worked in various fields and departments, working with overseas clients and vendors, for the past 10 years.

Enthusiasm for translation, movies, and TV dramas made me complete a six-month course at a subtitling institution last year.
